Joan is an entrepreneur, an animal welfare advocate and owner of Furever Theirs, LLC, a Dog is Good authorized reseller and Pop-Up Shop. A dog mom to four rescue dogs and a foster to a senior beagle named Buddy who she found as a stray dog, Joan believes that having pets is a lifetime commitment and lives by this philosophy. Joan is a volunteer and active member of the board for the Philippine Chamber of Commerce of GA and served as the Membership Director in 2020-2021 and elected as Treasurer in 2022. Joan also currently works as a healthcare worker in the claims department of Atlanta International PT Inc., a pediatric therapy clinic for special needs children mostly from marginalized Hispanic populations in Gwinnett County, GA. Her ability to juggle all these come from her project management skills honed by her past corporate work experiences.
While in Manila, Philippines, she worked for J Walter Thompson, Ace Saatchi and Saatchi, and Ammirati Puris Lintas, all multinational advertising agencies handling top FMCG’s made by multinational corporations such as Unilever, Kraft Foods, Richardson Vicks, Smart Telecoms, Philip’s Lighting, Wrigley’s Chewing Gum, and Nokia to name a few. Her excellent work as a brand strategist, communications guru and AVP of Account Management led to the creation of award-winning advertising campaigns for Nokia Mobile Manners. Early in her career, she was a recipient of the coveted Unsung Hero’s Awards by J. Walter Thompson, Co., that basically launched her 17-year career in advertising prior to migrating to the United States in 2002.
In 2010, Joan earned her MBA in Human Resources Management from Thomas College, “a private college in Waterville, Maine. Thomas College specializes in business, education, liberal arts and sciences, and technology”. She graduated in 1985 from De La Salle University, Manila, with a double major in Psychology and Marketing Management.
